My House, My Life sets aside 3% of the homes for the elderly. For people with disabilities, the program reserves 3% of the residences and also provides ground-floor houses or apartments equipped with specific disability accessibility kits. In order offer children greater security, property ownership generally remains in the name of the mother, only going to the father if he has legal custody of the children in the event of separation of the couple.
For many people, leisure space is associated with luxury condominiums, too expensive and inaccessible for most Brazilians. But the My House, My Life program has structured projects increasingly focused on the importance of meeting beneficiaries’ demands, even for entertainment. It is true many projects do not have enough land for a large recreation area. But whenever conditions are favorable, they include playgrounds for children, game rooms for seniors and jogging and cycling tracks. Accessibility has also been a priority, especially to meet the needs of older people and those with some type of disability.
