The Army Strategic Cyber Defense Project has been engaged since 2009. The following year, all activities of the three Forces in the area came to be coordinated by the Cyber Defense Centre. The first practical action of the Centre's professionals took place in 2012, at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio + 20).
The revelation that US agencies spy on communications across the globe, including companies executives and Chiefs of State, accelerated Brazilian plans to protect Brazil from digital attacks.
In early 2014, Dilma government allocated R$ 40 million for the creation of the National Cyber Defense School, under the Ministry of Defense, which will be open to all public service workers in all areas of public administration. The first distance learning courses are already being prepared by an institute-embryo.
