Besides contributing to reducing the housing deficit and helping combat social inequalities, the My House, My Life program generates employment and income, showing positive results for the economy as a whole. With an investment of R$ 217 billion through June 2014, My House, My Life has created about 1.3 million jobs, representing 2.6% of the Brazilian economy’s formal labor force.

Every R$ 1 million invested in the program supports 32 jobs and generates additional direct and indirect income of some R$ 744,000 in construction and other sectors. It is the logic of the Lula and Dilma governments: investing in the welfare of the poorest families is to generate earnings and benefits for all Brazilians.
The GDP generated by the activities supported by the program was R$ 12.2 billion in the first half of 2013 alone, representing 0.6% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
In 2012, My House, My Life’s impact on GDP was 0.8%.
